At the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission & Grid System Company (KPT&GSC), we are consistently working to strengthen the backbone of the province’s power infrastructure. In a key step towards this goal, a dedicated meeting was convened on October 16, 2025, to chart a clear and actionable path for the accurate valuation of our transmission line assets.

The session, led by our CEO, Engr: Luqman Hakeem Khan, underscored the importance of this initiative for the region’s energy roadmap. With a firm deadline set for the end of the month, the team engaged in constructive discussions to establish a transparent and justifiable methodology for determining the book value of these critical assets.

A central outcome of the meeting was the collective agreement on a streamlined approach to valuation. After insightful inputs from PEDO’s finance, planning, and resident engineering teams, it was decided to base the valuation on officially approved PC-I costs, ensuring a reliable and auditable foundation. Crucially, the team agreed to forgo the application of depreciation, a strategic decision aimed at maintaining simplicity and alignment with the principles of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

The way forward is clear and action-oriented. All Resident Engineers have been tasked with compiling comprehensive data packages, including cost summaries and supporting Interim Payment Certificate (IPC) documents. The Finance Section is now finalizing this consolidated information, with a final report due imminently. This rigorous exercise will culminate in a working paper to be presented to the PEDO’s Policy Board, ensuring full organizational alignment.

This proactive effort is more than just a financial exercise; it is a testament to our commitment to operational excellence and good governance. By establishing a clear and defensible value for our transmission assets, KPT&GSC is not only building a case for a sustainable tariff but also reinforcing the very framework that powers progress across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
